Hoffman was inducted into the LTHS Hall of Fame in 1995. representative to the eleventh session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in July of 1956. He went on to serve as the president of Studebaker from 1935-1938, then accepted the post of administrator of the Economic Cooperation Administration (The Marshall Plan), which he led until 1950. After graduating from LT, Hoffman attended the University of Chicago. In June of 1957, Paul G Hoffman, class of 1907, was selected to speak at the 1957 commencement ceremony. LT saw its highest enrollment during the 1971-1972 with a record-setting 5,220 students.Īn electric lighting system was added for the first time in the summer of 1891. These renovations totaled $133,955 and included air conditioning the band and choir rooms, building a home economics room (Room 129) and counseling offices, as well as the duct work leading to those new rooms. Throughout the summer of 1975, many rooms in NC received renovations ranging from air conditioning to electrical work to general construction. In 1958, LT students were surveyed about their study habits and found that the average LT boy spent between 10 and 19 hours studying each week the average girl spent between 15 and 24. In 1950, after moving from the library to the third floor chemistry laboratory then down to the basement, the LT Band moved to its present home-on the third floor of the Vaughan Building. In 1925, the average teacher's salary was $2,455. On May 19, 1960, a LION reporter was given the unique opportunity to visit Washington D.C. Stiles in 1888, adding an auditorium, bell tower, library, etc. LT saw its largest senior class during the 1975-1976 school year, with 1,109 graduates!īy the early 1950s, seven additions had been added to the original North Campus, designed by architect C.
